USB is an acronym for Universal Serial Bus. It’s an industry standard developed in the min-1990’s that defines the cables, connectors, and communications protocols used in a bus for connection, communication, and power supply between computers and electronic devices. You use a USB cable to connect your Taranis to your computer so that OpenTX Companion can be used to manage your TX. Like everythng else having to do with computers, things have advanced since the original USB came on the scene. The current edition is USB3 which supplanted USB2. Some folks have reported difficulty using the newer USB3 ports. The problem seems to be related to the individual chip sets in the computer. The Zadig driver supposedly helps, but whether or not it solves the problem completely has yet to be determined.
