Model Set Up (2/13)

Let’s Check Out the “Model Set Up” screen (pg 2 of 13).   We will be moving through lots of Taranis fields during the set up.  In general we’ll be using the same key commands we’ve just demonstrated: +/- to navigate –> SP ENT to select/choose –> +/- to adjust value/browse –> SP ENT again to finish (occasionally we’ll need EXIT).  We’ll provide additional button navigation help where needed.

You’ll find 12 fields to complete in the Model Set Up, pg 2 screen.  Take advantage of the in-text definitions, links into the Glossary and detailed help in the posts that follow each field to see if you can get your settings to look like the class examples also described in the details.  Compare your results with the screenshots at the end.

NOTE:  If you followed the detailed instructions, you will have the file name of a model image in your Model Image field where I have a ‘- – -‘ because the screen grabs are from Companion which can’t insert an image name there.  Your Taranis screens should look something like these when you’ve finished.

WHEW!  That was a lot!  But now you know all about the Model Set Up screen pg 2 of 13.  Reward yourself with a short break.

When you’re ready, we’ll pass briefly through Heli (3/13), Flight Modes (4/13), and spend some quality time in Inputs (5/13).  Click to move on.

Model Set Up (2/13) — 4 Comments

  1. I need to set up a specific model configuration and need to know how to proceed. I have a foam model with 2 pusher props and 2 servos thrust vectoring only in the vertical axis. So i have throttle running both motors and want to have differential thrust from them as i stick left and right in yaw. Roll and pitch are mixed from thrust vectoring and throttle as well. Sort of complex but a very lightweight setup. Who has suggestions? Is there a model like this already in existence that i can clone and customize?

Please reply asap because this is holding me up from crashing and rebuilding this thing!

    • Hi, Roger!

Actually, you’d probably be better off going to one of the forums, particularly one of the heli or quad groups. They’d have a lot more information than I do.

  2. I was a little confused about the switch positions in the preflight checks section. I gather that the radio is oriented so that the sticks point “up” and the antenna is at the “front”. Is that correct?

    • Hi, Scott!

Yes, the sticks are pointing toward you, just as they would be if you were flying. The antenna position doesn’t matter.

      Hope this helps!
