Normal Mode

Normal mode and Idle Up mode are the two flight modes generally used by Heli pilots.  Most experienced RC helicopter pilots fly almost exclusively in Idle Up mode. Normal mode  means low throttle stick with engine at idle or off.

Offset

A value that is added to the incoming value of a source.  Frequently used similar to a sub-trim to square up servo control arms, to zero control surface deflections, or to calibrate telemetry or voltage values.

One Way Bearing

Allows an RC helicopter’s main rotor to rotate even when the motor is stopped.  Very much like a bicycle gear for a rear wheel.  Allows a helicopter to autorotate (land without power).

Pitch Pump

An RC helicopter move where collective is rapidly changed between full positive and full negative.  Used to test the reaction of the tail and the drive system when the helicopter is under load.

Power

Reported in Watts, equal to d.c. volts x amps. Distinguished from work = watts x time.
