A heading hold gyro (also known as AVCS – Angular Vector Control System) is the most common form of Heli flight stabilizer.  Endeavors to keep the helicopter always pointing in the current direction unless it is told to move. Allows an RC helicopter to fly sideways of backwards, and helps to hold position in the wind.  Heading Hold is also a control mode in fixed wing airplane stabilizers and multi-rotor flight controllers.
